Social Mapping
Previously on http://horizonmapping.net: As an example of Social Mapping, an app on a client web site contains an example of Social Mapping. The map was built using the Joomla Content Management System. When a visitor clicks on a map marker, a tooltip opens displaying a member's name and organization. The tip could include a link to one or more of their social networking profiles.
These applications are another way for conference attendees, website users or contributors to connect with one another and to further the goals of organizations.

Jim, do you think it is a good strategy to have separate maps for different events/purposes or one map that connects people from many different entry points?
ReplyDeleteI've a Member Map at http://tutormentorconnection.ning.com that you helped me set up. I'm launching the conference map as people register for the Nov. 19 Tutor/Mentor Conference in Chicago. http://www.tutormentorexchange.net/tmc_social/2012conference_map.php
However, I have groups also meeting on Facebook, Linked in and visiting my three primary web sites. I could create a separate map for each, but that seems to miss the opportunity of mapping all the people who are connecting with me, regardless of where they enter.
On the conference map you set it up so people could list their Facebook or Ning profiles. Could you add Linked in and Twitter to this? If so I could make that map available in all of my sites.
What do you think?
